The program will bring together 18 contestants in competitions to reveal new national rap talents
Netflix released this Tuesday (10/15) the participants, the trailer and the poster of “Nova Cena”, the first Brazilian musical reality show in streaming. The contest will pit 18 artists against each other to reveal new national rap talent. The attraction will open on November 12.
“Nova Cena” is the Brazilian version of the North American format “Rhythm & Flow” (2019) and portrays the artistic evolution of the participants fighting for the R$500,000 prize and participation in the “Sintonia” series. The jury is made up of Djonga, Filipe Ret and sisters Tasha and Tracia.
The competition presents the international version with recordings in three different cities, which represent the origins of the judges and cross the regions that contributed to their career: Viaduto Santa Tereza (BH), Tavares Bastos e Lapa (RJ) and Cidade Tiradentes (SP) , respectively.
The program will also welcome 20 names from the national scene who will have to contribute to the artistic development of the new generation of rappers. They are: Azzy, Bob13, Dallas, Dexter, Ebony, FBC, Iza Sabino, Jottapê, Karol Conká, KL JAY, Laudz, Marcelo D2, Maru2D, MC Luanna, Negra Li, NINA, Sidoka, Vulgo FK, WIU and Zegon.

MINAS GERAIS
RT Mallone
Vitor, aka RT Mallone, has been rapping since 2012, when he started participating in rhyme battles. He has always had an affinity for the stage and music, but it was in rapping that he found the opportunity to be authentic and express his experiences. His interest in music began in church, where his mother is a pastor. With three albums released, his most listened to song has already exceeded one million streams. He has collaborated with Bivolt and Santi, as well as counting Well and AKILLA in his circle of friends.
OGCapitu
Fabiana, aka OG Capitu, is a trapper from Belo Horizonte. “OG” means “original”, while “Capitu” is a reference to the character of Machado de Assis. He has been on the rap scene for 7 years, having started his career in graffiti and dance breaking. During this time, he developed a rap project at church, where he always wrote poetry. After leaving the church, he found his place in slam and fell even more in love with urban poetry. The experience of learning about hip-hop culture on the streets made her see herself as part of this movement and helped her understand a lot about herself. In 2018, with the help of a friend, he made his first trap, starting his career as OG Capitu. Her biggest goal is to have resources to produce her work with total creative freedom and give more visibility to women in rap.
Novak
Novak was born, raised and lives on the outskirts of Belo Horizonte. From an early age he was very close to crime, but never got involved thanks to hip-hop. A frequenter of rhyming battles since he was a child, he began to create his own compositions and perform in competitions. Over time, he gained notoriety in the Minas music scene. Today, in addition to his presentations, he works in the studio he built at his community association.
MayornZZZ
Mayron is from Paraisópolis, in the hinterland of Minas Gerais. He is the middle child of a humble but close-knit family. His father, from São Paulo, always listened to Racionais MC. Emicida and Rashid’s battles sparked his interest in rapping and rhyming. Now, with a studio set up in his bedroom, Mayron produces his own music and dreams of shining on the national stage.
Maju
Maju lives in Ouro Preto, but was born in the city of Mariana. From an early age she was influenced by music, especially by her father, who played the guitar at home and promoted samba and MPB clubs. Today he continues to be one of its biggest supporters. A philosophy student, it was during the pandemic that he created his first productions. Today he lives on public tenders to encourage culture and produces a party in his city that moves the local urban scene.
Cafiero
Cafiero is from Belo Horizonte and, as a child, lived with his grandmother, who had a strong influence on his musical education. An uncle introduced him to rhyming battles and he was immediately enchanted. At that time he secretly observed battles with his uncle and began writing rhymes at school. Over time he gained courage and decided to participate in competitions. The main style of his productions is trap, although he is inspired by artists of different genres. Cafiero dreams of making a living with music.
SAINT PAUL
Live it
VICKVI was born in Guarulhos, Sao Paulo. His interest in music began during the height of the pandemic, when he immersed himself in music production independently, with a focus on rap. As a child, VICKVI found musical inspiration in her brother and grandfather, both of whom were always involved in the regional songs of Pernambuco. This cultural and family heritage influenced his musical path, which he followed with dedication and passion.
RUI’f
RUI’f was born in Brazil, passed through Vila Prudente, where he lived as a teenager, and now lives in Sacomã. He always dedicated himself to his studies, preparing himself when the opportunity arose. Although he has always been connected to music, he had no idea that this would be his path. Everything changed when a friend invited him to perform, at which point he felt his life take on new colors. Since then, RUI’f has produced its own music and climbed its trajectory step by step.
Ras
Ras is a rapper from Piracicaba, in the hinterland of São Paulo. His family has several musical references: his grandparents come from the church and always listen to gospel music, his cousins enjoy the pagode and his uncles play the violin and cello. From an early age, Raz developed a taste for music, but it was in rap that he truly found himself, despite initial resistance from his mother, who didn’t always understand the lyrics and their context. His greatest desire is to live from his art and support himself through rap.
Maria Preta
Maria Preta was born and raised in the eastern area of São Paulo, in Poá. After leaving home, he immersed himself in cultural activities and backpacked until the birth of his daughter, Solara Madalena. Even though she doesn’t yet make a living from music alone, she considers herself an ever-evolving artist.
Gabrelú
Gabrelú grew up in the hinterland of São Paulo and had his first contact with art in a cultural center in the city of Votorantim. He dreamed of acting and devoted himself intensely to studying the performing arts. He studied cinema, where he discovered the music scene, which awakened in him the desire to compose his own songs. In 2023 he released his first album. As a non-binary trans person, Gabrelú notices the lack of space in the music scene.
Fury
Gustavo, known as Fúria na Voz, is from Jundiaí, São Paulo. He grew up in a family environment rich in music, especially samba. A few years ago he moved to the capital Sao Paulo to invest in his career, participating in the main rap battles in the city.
RIO DE JANEIRO
Muxima
Gustavo Toledo, known as Muxima, is from Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, and has four brothers, including a fraternal twin. His family follows religions of African origin and he grew up immersed in the references of the terreiro batuques. For a long time he struggled with the shame of his stutter and took refuge in writing, believing that singing would never be a reality for him, until he discovered rhyming battles. Today Muxima dreams of conquering the world and transforming the reality around her through her music.
Mayan Museum
Joana, known as Musa Maya, is from Maricá, in the hinterland of Rio de Janeiro. At 18 he moved to the capital to study theater and, at the same time, began his musical career. His interest in rap was born through his friend Sol. He uses his personal feelings and experiences as a source of inspiration for his work. His main influences include rap, trap, pop, jazz and R&B. His goal is to be recognized for his talent and the impact of his music.
I jump
Jump earned his name due to his background in track and field. Practicing the long jump took him away from the world of crime and even earned him a scholarship to college. Raised by his godparents, he lost his father and other family members at an early age. Despite his dedication to sports, art has always captured his heart. It was in the evangelical church that he discovered his passion for singing and in rhyming battles that he began to express himself more authentically.
Guide
Guiu was born in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, and lives in a local community. He has been writing poetry since he was a teenager and began fighting in street battles after a cousin unexpectedly enlisted him. After losing his first battle, Guiu decided that he no longer wanted to suffer defeat and devoted himself intensely to his development. Today he is one of the great champions of his city, distinguishing himself on the battle scene.
Cold Jas
COLD JAS was born in Angola and moved to Brazil at the age of 16, after experiencing a civil war. Since the age of 12 she has been immersed in rap and Afrobeat culture, although she is aware of the lack of support and space in a conservative country. In Brazil, he studied at a nun school in Sorocaba and later studied Computer Engineering in Rio de Janeiro. However, art caught his attention after some stints as an extra. As an actress, she participated in the film Medida Provisória, invited by Lázaro Ramos. COLD JAS was chosen to reflect his coolness and was born while he was taking an art class in New York, where he had the opportunity to rhyme over Afro beats.
Aphrodite BXD
Afrodite is an artist from Baixada Fluminense, in Rio de Janeiro, whose path reflects the reality of many women from the suburbs. Music entered his life as a refuge in difficult times. Through slams, Aphrodite began writing poetry. But it was seeing a young girl in battle transform into a giant with the power of her voice that decided the path she wanted to follow. He began composing and recording his own songs, gaining public attention. Today, in addition to developing his solo work, he composes for other artists and earns a living from music.
