Vocalist jokes that his band’s most recent album didn’t reach the top because of the singer’s “fault”
With an already extensive discography and relevant works despite his young age, Taylor Swift managed to win the hearts of not only fans, but also renowned artists. It is the case that Jon Bon Joviwho spares no praise for the singer whenever she is mentioned during an interview.
In a recent conversation with Varietythe frontman of Bon Jovi talked about Taylor and its main qualities. The singer revealed that he considers her “absolutely incredible” and even praised the singer’s audience, the group of fans who call themselves “swifties”.
Jon stated:
She created an industry. She used what she does best. [As pessoas dizem] ‘She sings like Taylor Swift’. ‘She plays guitar like Taylor Swift’. She’s not trying to be something she’s not. And this connects with an audience that is unique.”
On another occasion, the musician referred to his professional colleague with good humor, during an event related to the release of the band’s documentary, “Thank You, Goodnight: The Story of Good Jovi”. According to the Entertainment Tonight (via AOL), the vocalist made a joke involving the singer and her famous break-ups. Jon joked:
That has been the magic of a 40-year career. At the age of 20, when I got a record deal, I didn’t have much else to write about except high school. And I didn’t separate myself from people like Taylor did.”
Bon Jovi vs. Taylor Swift on the charts
Another recent event involving the two artists was the release of albums by both in the first half of 2024. In April, Taylor Swift launched “The Tortured Poets Department”and two months later, he left “Forever”from Bon Jovi.
In an interview with Audacity, Jon said, jokingly, that his band’s album didn’t reach first place on the main American charts because of “the fault” of Swift. The vocalist declared:
If it wasn’t for that annoying girl Taylor, we would have been number 1 everywhere! But isn’t it fantastic that, on our 18th album, we’re still having big hits? So, knock on wood, and why not be happy?”
As explained by Jon, “Forever” is the 18th album from Bon Jovi and celebrates the band’s 40th anniversary. A documentary, “Thank You, Goodnight”was made available on Disney+ to celebrate the milestone.
Already Taylor Swiftwhich was born five years after the rock band’s first album, continues until the end of 2024 with its record-breaking tour “The Eras”. In addition to new material, she has been releasing updated re-recordings of her older works, after winning a legal battle against the record company and taking control of her catalog.
