Quincy Jones, legendary music producer, dies at age 91


Over a 65-year career, the “Thriller” producer has had an enormous influence in reshaping pop music alongside Michael Jackson

Legendary American music producer Quincy Jones died this Sunday, 3 years old, at the age of 91. In his career spanning more than 65 years, he exerted an enormous influence on the world of music, working with artists such as Miles Davis and Frank Sinatra and reshaping pop music through his collaborations with Michael Jackson.

He was a trumpeter, bandleader, arranger, composer, producer and won 27 Grammy Awards. Jones produced the reunion of American music superstars who recorded the 1985 song We are the worldan initiative to raise funds to fight hunger in Ethiopia.

Some of his most notable works were in collaboration with Michael Jackson. They made three albums together – Off the wallin 1979, Thrillerin 1982, and Badin 1987 -, which changed the landscape of American pop music. Thriller has sold approximately 70 million copies, with six of the album’s nine songs in the top 10 of the global charts.

Jones has been married three times. His first wife was Jeri Caldwell, with whom he had a daughter. He later married Swedish model Ulla Andersson, with whom he had two children, including Quincy III, who became a hip-hop producer. His third wife was actress Peggy Lipton, with whom he had two daughters, including actress Rashida Jones. He had two more children outside his marriage, including one with actress Nastassja Kinski.
