Even with line-up changes, the band continues to address very personal themes in their lyrics
The formation of the LinkinPark is no longer the same, however, the message transmitted by the band in their lyrics kept the tone in From Zero. The album, which comes out this Friday (15), is the group’s first with the vocalist Emily Armstrong and the drummer Colin Brittainrespectively in the vacancies of the deceased Chester Bennington and the absent Rob Bourdon.
THE Rolling Stone Brazil you were able to hear the work before its release (click here to check the review) and one of the songs that draws the most attention is “Good Things Go”. The track is responsible for ending the listening and shows how the lyrical content continues to address very personal issues.

The final verse repeats what is said in the chorus previously, with the addition of the line “And I won’t make excuses for the pain I caused us both”. In full, it says:
And I don’t know why I say I hate you when I don’t
I push you when you get too close
It’s hard to laugh when the joke’s on me
But I can’t do it alone
Only you can save me from my lack of self-control
And I won’t make excuses for the pain I caused us both
So, thank you for always being by my side, even if…
Sometimes bad things take the place of good things”
Although mental health issues were discussed by other members — especially the multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda — over the years, it is difficult not to associate such lines, especially “Sometimes bad things take the place of good things,” with the loss of Chester Bennington. The vocalist, who suffered from depression for decades, took his own life in 2017, at the age of 41.

Musically, “Good Things Go” presents a more experimental sound little noticed throughout From Zero. It is slower and more reflective, serving as an ideal setting for the message conveyed by the lyrics. In the verses, raps from Mike Shinoda in the most conventional model possible LinkinPark. In the choruses, the superpop melodic lines previously presented return, initially without guitar accompaniment, later with.
