Famous albums and unreleased materials from the legendary samba player debut on digital platforms
Node Black Consciousness MonthSony Music pays homage to one of the great stars of its national catalog: the samba singer Martinho da Vila. Thanks to this tribute, rarity AND famous records of the singer and composer from Rio de Janeiro published by the record company and until then news in streaming debuted on digital platforms.
In the list of releases hitting streaming, there are nine albums by Martinbeing two compact ones AND two compilations. They are: the records Rose of the People (1976), Latin American Portuñol (1980), Martinho da Vida (1990), Go my Samba, go! (1991), The father of joy (1999); the compact Martin from Villafrom 1970, with tracks The glories of the Gaucho, I deny Come Sambar, I want to see him break AND End of the Kingdom.
Also included is the 1971 compact, with tracks Brown Gold (Unidos de Vila Isabel – Samba-enredo 1971) e Samba from Cabrocha Bamba and compilations Vinteum XXI – 21 Greatest Hits – Martinho da Vila2000 and RCA 100 years of music – Martinho Da Vila2001.

The rise and celebrity of Martinho da Vila, one of the greatest voices of samba
With the work of Martinho da Vilait couldn’t be different: born in Two BarsIn Rio de Janeiroin 1938, Martinho gained prominence in history III MPB Festivalcarried out by Television recording in 1967, with the song Lasswhich was classified for the knockout stage.
In 1968 he scored his first success, Bamba’s house. The following year he released his debut LP, Martinho da Vilafrom the record company RCA Victorwhich currently belongs to Sony Musicushering in a long-lasting and successful partnership with the company, which has produced many classic – and seminal – albums in MPB’s history.

His first compacts, from 1970 and 1971, prove young Martin starting what would be a long journey in samba – of respect and devotion -, but already indicating a truly unique style of composition and singing, between deception and refinement, to which he remains faithful to this day.

In later works, as in The popular rose (with flawless production of Rildo Hora and the ever-historic cover of Elifa Andreato), since 1976, the themes dear to him in his songs consolidated and the musicality expanded, with the popularization of alto parties and samba-enredos, but also with flirtations with other styles.
