Belo’s ex-wife claims the singer knew about the affair and used the end of the relationship to boost his music career
In the recent release of the documentary BeautifulToo Close To The Lightavailable on Globoplay, Gracyanne Barbosa, ex-wife of singer Belo, has made a series of revelations about the end of her 16-year marriage with the artist.
The influencer, fitness muse and entrepreneur, confirmed Belo’s betrayal with personal trainer Gilson Oliveira, as well as stating that the singer knew what had happened, but chose not to react publicly, exploiting the situation for his strategy of career.
In a frank conversation in the documentary, Gracyanne Barbosa revealed that the story of betrayal was nothing new to Belo and that she was already aware of the situation when the press began reporting on the case. “When Leo Dias called me to find out about the betrayal I said: ‘it’s true’. Him [Leo Dias] He told me he had known for a while,” Gracyanne said, indicating that Belo preferred to remain silent at the time.
The influencer also said that the separation between the two occurred at a time when both were already following different paths, and that Belo, after learning of the repercussions of the betrayal, exploited the situation in his career.
“On the day of the Soweto show, when the news came out, we were already separated. I was already with someone else, and so was he. He preferred to stay silent, put on a wonderful show and cry,” Gracyanne said, adding that de Belo’s crying on stage helped generate more repercussions and also increased the value of the shows performed with his musical group.
Gracyanne: Lies and persecution
Gracyanne also commented on Belo’s attitude at the beginning of their relationship, when he, according to her, obsessively pursued her. “He followed me around Copacabana. I used to go to the beach a lot at that time, and he would hide behind the pay phone and watch me,” she revealed. She pointed out that Belo was already experiencing difficulties after leaving prison and, therefore, avoided appearing in public, but that his insistence on watching her was evident.
Furthermore, the influencer claimed that, throughout the marriage, the singer developed a series of lies. “He lies, he lies compulsively, he lies all the time. And I’m not talking about cheating, but about small, insignificant things. It’s very difficult for you to look someone in the eye, know the truth and see them lie,” Gracyanne explained. She was also keen to point out that while it was a wonderful marriage in many ways, Belo’s constant dishonesty was the determining factor in the relationship’s demise.
With the distance, Gracyanne said she lost the desire to try to solve problems, reaching a point where she no longer cared about asking Belo for the truth. “The love is still there, but the desire to solve problems and be together has disappeared,” he added.
These revelations paint a picture of a troubled relationship, with betrayals, lies and image manipulation, culminating in the end of a union marked by lack of trust and disagreements.
