Exhibition of the New Traditional Samba Practical Manual will be available for viewing at Ocupação IBORU; Vol. 1: Dona Paulete pays homage to D2’s mother
Singer known as a member of the rap rock band Planet Hemp and vocals on solo hits like “Vent / Let Me Say,” “What it is?,” “Samba Makossa/ Quote: Monologue At The Foot Of The Ear” and “4:20,” Marcelo D2 announced new studio album, titled Vol. 1: Dona Pauleteand an exhibition of the Practical Manual for New Traditional Samba.
It’s worth remembering how the new album is the first of four albums from the project Practical Manual for New Traditional Samba. To get the project off the ground, D2 merged several instruments, such as electronic drums 808ancestral cuíca from Master Quirinotambourine and traditional repique and tantã do Chief of Ramos.
Now, D2the wife, Luiza Machadoand Cará Artistic Residency will continue the IBORU occupationin Rio de Janeiro, for visitors to learn about the creative process of Practical Manual for New Traditional Sambawith five artistic installations.
In a press release, the artist and samba singer revealed how all four chapters, which pay homage to his mother, will be released by Carnival 2025. “I follow my path in the service of samba, what I want most is to get closer and closer of the public, let everyone in and stay up to date with what happens during the creation process, how we got here,” he stated. “The public is a big part of New Traditional Samba, they have to come along, I’m a tool.”
