The return of “Luau” proves that MTV recognizes the value of nostalgia

The music broadcaster should use the program as a test to involve old Volga attractions and VJs

This Thursday (12), MTV will present another attraction inspired by its predecessor, MTV Brasil, back in the days when the channel was more focused on music than reality shows. “Luau MTV” will return with a show by L7nnon and Marcelo Falcão and a presentation by actress Bella Campos. The team will also have Pedro Scooby behind the scenes and Sarah Oliveira in interviews.

Sarah’s presence in a format that has ruled for a long time, with classic shows like Cássia Eller, is an indication that the “new” MTV, finally, recognizes the value of those who have established their brand. In fact, there is no shortage of formats from the golden times explored by the channel, which also launched a new version of “Beija Sapo”, which, like “Luau”, is back with a brand attached to its name.

Regardless of advertising decisions, the broadcaster should use the projects as a test to bring back audiences who have grown up but miss what they watched. It’s not possible to live only on “Holiday with the ex” in the schedule – which, yes, is fun, but it’s wearing thin. Just to name a few, programs like “Barraco”, “Acesso” and even “Disk”, with interactivity in times of smartphones and apps, would easily enter the channel, without astronomical costs.

Maybe it’s time to modernize what’s worked for so long and, who knows, bring back some faces that audiences are missing. This new version of MTV failed to blend in with what made it such a strong brand.
