What would you do to have an exclusive souvenir of your greatest idol? And how much would you be willing to pay to give up such an object? These questions, as hypothetical as they may seem, have become reality for Felipe Conrado.

The 33-year-old publicist is a fan of Taylor Swiftwho celebrates his birthday this Friday the 13th. the artist’s visit to Rio de Janeiro last yearbecame the owner of a unique and unlikely object: the broken heel of the singer’s costume.

The animation, however, soon gave way to a plan: sell the piece on the internet and use the money to pay for it skin cancer treatment of cousin Angela, 37 years old. Having trouble with the health planConrado’s family struggled to raise the money needed for his cousin’s chemotherapy. THE Taylow Swift jumpsso, that would be the solution.

The sale, however, was not necessary. After a campaign by the singer’s fans on the Internet, Christian Louboutin — the famous designer responsible for making Taylor’s boots — heard about the story and decided to help. “Not even in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that something like this could happen,” the publicist told the North American magazine People.

The French designer promised to pay for the treatment of Conrado’s cousin. “The first thing I did was call her and she cried with happiness and emotion. We are immensely grateful for her gesture. It brought light and hope at a time when the disease was already so challenging”, confessed the publicist .

In September this year Angela’s treatment ended. She is cancer free. “That leap came to our family at the right time!” the Taylor fan celebrated.

How did the jump end up in the hands of the fan?

The acquisition of the jump occurred unexpectedly. During the singer’s last show in the capital of Rio de Janeiro, an outfit error caused the piece to come off the artist’s shoes during the show. Wanting to continue the show without unnecessary pauses, the singer freed herself from the piece and threw it from the stage.

The object ended up being thrown towards the fans and Conrado was the lucky one to catch it. “I noticed that the heel of the Louboutin boot fell perfectly into my hands. It took me a few seconds to realize what I had gotten. Even the people around me were shocked.”

The plan to pay for his cousin’s treatment emerged moments after Conrado took possession of the jump. After the show, he shared the idea on social media and received a lot of criticism, but he also received a huge wave of support.

Some fans even created the “#KeepTheHeel” campaign, or “#FiqueComOSalto” in Portuguese, in an attempt to help the publicist’s cousin and prevent him from having to part with the precious souvenir.

“I knew that many fans would listen to my story because it was something very unexpected involving the greatest artist of our generation. I was filled with happiness to see fans rallying to ensure that I didn’t have to give up something so unique because of a difficult situation,” the man told the North American publication.

With the help of Christian Louboutin, Conrado kept the jump and managed to pay for his cousin’s treatment. Now, the fan dreams of meeting Taylor Swift in person. “Maybe one day I will have the chance to meet her and thank her for the surprise that changed my family’s life.”
