U2’s Larry Mullen Jr. is diagnosed with dyscalculia; understand effects in music

The drummer recently found out about his diagnosis and mentioned his son has dyslexia while speaking on the topic

In an interview with Times Radio published last Friday, the 13th, spoke for the first time about the learning disorder that affects skills related to numbers, including music. The musician, for example, compared “counting the beats” of music to “climbing Everest.”

“I’ve always known that there’s something that doesn’t work very well in the way I deal with numbers. I have numerical difficulties,” he reported. “And I recently found out I have dyscalculia, which is a subcategory of dyslexia. So I can’t count, I can’t do math.”
