Survey published by Pollstar reveals general income figures and number of tickets sold for each attraction covered

The magazine’s website Pollstar released the 2024 edition of its already traditional survey artists who earned the most from tours. The list presents not only general income figures, but also the volume of tickets sold, among other data.

Previously, the publication highlighted that the current year marked “return to Earth” after two and a half years of dizzying growth in the in-person entertainment industry. There was stability in the current period, since, between the end of 2021 and 2023, the numbers were so high that the magazine cited the biennium as the “golden age of live music”.

The media outlet reinforces that, since 2019 (the last full year of live tour data before the pandemic closed), total revenues from this industry have grown impressively 71%. Therefore, even the maintenance of numbers should not be considered “stagnation” — despite there being negative effects in 2024, such as record cancellations of festivals and tours, perhaps due to the increase in the number of events offered to the public.

The first two places in the top 10 could not be other than Taylor Swift and Coldplayrespectively in positions number one and two. After all, the The Eras Tour and the Music of the Spheres World Tour became the two biggest tours of all time — one in terms of gross revenue and the other in terms of tickets sold.

Present in tenth place on the list, Madonna was cited by Pollstar due to her free show in Rio de Janeiro, on May 4th. According to the magazine, the closing presentation of the Celebration Tour attracted the largest audience gathering ever for an independent show, with 1.6 million fans on Copacabana beach.
