The singer Billie Eilish revealed, in an interview with Apple Musicthat the music “The Greatest”from his album Hit Me Hard and Softhas a special meaning for her, especially when she hears her fans singing it at her shows. During the conversation, Billie explained how this experience reinforces the impact of her music on people’s lives.
When I played the first show on my tour, which I’m on now, the song ‘The Greatest’ was very special to us. When I sang, I took out one of my headphones and heard a giant arena full of people singing.
They sang all the other songs too, but listening to that song has a meaning and a memory for me, and also the memory of when we made it and what it gave us in our creative spirit.

I could see with my eyes, I could hear with my ears. And that’s something that I hold so close to me. And every time I get a chance to really see how what I do or whatever impacts people in real time, that’s it.”
The song was performed live for the first time in June, at The Stephen Colbert Show. The album Hit Me Hard and Soft was released in September 2024 and marks a new phase in Billie’s career.
