Scammers advertise fake shows by Metallica, The Cure and others in Brazil

Pages even publish and promote ticket purchase links on networks for performances that are not even confirmed

In recent days, fans of bands like Metallica and The Cure have come across a series of posts on social media Instagram and Facebook announcing supposed shows in Brazil for 2025. The content is displayed to internet users through boosting, when someone pays to have their post displayed to a user who does not follow the account in question.

However, it is a blow. The highlighted artists do not have performances scheduled in the country.

The pages responsible for this type of post even publish links to purchase tickets, copying the look of the ticket booth Ticketmaster. Sometimes they also use the name of the producer Live Nation. So far, none of the companies have commented on the matter.

The most common reports are of supposed shows by Metallica and The Cure. The first band came to Brazil for the last time in May 2022. The following year, they started the tour M72promoting the album 72 Seasonsbut has not confirmed a return to the country: the official schedule has confirmed presentations in North America (between April and June) and Oceania (November).

The second was here as an attraction at the festival Primavera Soundin December 2023. This year, the group released a new album, Songs of a Lost Worldand performed isolated shows in the United Kingdom. The expectation is that a tour will be announced for next year. Internet users also report false advertisements for artists and bands such as Oasis, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars and Aerosmith. The first group actually has shows scheduled in Brazil, but tickets are already sold out.
