Neil Young rejects Glastonbury Festival over ‘BBC control’


The broadcaster is a television partner of the event, which takes place in June in England

The popular legend Neil Young refused to touch the Glastonbury Festival this year, for alleged “corporate control” of the BBC broadcaster, partner of the event taking place in June in England.

We were told that the BBC was now our partner and wanted us to do many things in a way that we were not interested in,” the 79-year-old musician wrote in a post on his website.

“It appears that Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is no longer as I remembered it. Thank you for coming to see us last time! We will not be playing Glastonbury on this tour as it is a corporate disincentive, not what it used to be. . I hope to see them at one of the other locations on the tour,” added the star of hits like Heart of gold.

The BBC has been the official broadcast partner since 1997 and has since expanded its reach. Young has played Glastonbury once, in 2009.
