“For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women)” will be the band’s first release after Michelle Zauner’s trip to South Korea
Japanese breakfast announced his new album on Tuesday 7th: For melancholy brunettes (and sad women).
The band’s first new album in four years will be released on March 21, just a few days early Michelle Zaunerfrontwoman of the group, turns 36.
To publicize the project, Japanese breakfast released the first single. “Orlando In Love” — which refers to the song “Orlando Innamorato”, by John Cheever – is now available on streaming platforms. Listen below:

(Not so) gap year in South Korea
Michelle Zauner it gained notoriety upon launch In tears at the market (2022), a memoir in which he explores his relationship with his deceased mother, highlighting the association between food and affection and offering insights into the beginning of his musical career.
To connect even more with her roots, the singer – daughter of a South Korean mother and an American father – announced in 2022 that she would dedicate a year to visiting South Korea. In 2024, she traveled to the country accompanied by her husband and partner band Peter Bradley.

Japanese breakfast passed through Brazil in 2022, when he was included in the line-up of Primavera Sound San Paolo. The day before the show at the festival, Zauner He was at Casa do Povo, in Sao Paulo, to promote his book and talk to fans.
Tours
The not so sabbatical year of Michelle Zauner seems to have come to an end. In addition to the new album, Japanese breakfast they already have dates scheduled for the next tour. Brazil is not yet on the band’s itinerary.
