The ceremony of Grammys 2025scheduled for February 2nd at Crypto.com Arenain Los Angeles, could be postponed due to the forest fires that have been raging in the region for a week. According to information from The Hollywood journalistThe National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences is internally discussing changing the date of the event and is considering turning it into a charity drive to raise funds for the MusicCaresa foundation dedicated to supporting artists in vulnerable situations.
An executive interviewed by the magazine said that the organization is close to announcing a new date, as the situation in the area remains critical. Last week, the Crypto.com Arena had to postpone an NBA game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Kings due to proximity to the fire.
Among this year’s main candidates, BeyoncĂ© leads with 11 nominations thanks to the album Cowboy Carter. Other highlights include Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar AND Post Malonewho received seven nominations each.
Still without official confirmation of the postponement, the 2025 Grammys remain scheduled for February 2. The expectation is that the Academy will comment soon on changes to the program or format of the awards.
Fires in Los Angeles
The Palisades fire has already consumed more than 9,000 hectaresaccording to the state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, Cal Fire. About 11% of the flames were contained. In total, the multiple fires have already consumed around 145 km², an area equivalent to the city of Miami, or 1.5 times that of Manhattan, in New York.
