Herbert Vianna, Bi Ribeiro and João Barone revealed that a new album is one of their plans for the year and told us what their inspirations are when composing
In the best “the more the merrier” style, The bladeguards of success They have extended the celebrations to 40 years of progress, a milestone reached in 2023. The continuation of the celebration arrives in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre and Belo Horizonte between May and August 2025.
In theory the shows will be similar to the tour “Classic fenders”which has been running in Brazil since 2021 and, with the renewed title “Classic fenders: 40 years”it has been circulating in the country since 2023.
Successes like “Wetlands”, “My Mistake” AND “A Brazilian” are guaranteed in the setlist which includes more than 30 songs.
But what about the new album?
In a newspaper interview The State of S. Paolo, Herbert Vianna, Bi Ribeiro AND João Barone they answered questions about their musical motivations, the current rock scene and more.
When asked about the music market, Baron he said he is happy with where the Mudguards currently occupy. He also revealed that new projects could be launched soon:
We are happy, we do a lot of shows. We also have the prospect of making a new album. We worked a lot, the pandemic was involved and, perhaps, we missed the moment to stop and listen to the songs of Herbertbrings a new sound. But it’s on our agenda to make a new album in 2025.
The drummer continues to reflect on the future of the group:
“In this celebratory moment, the Herbert says: ‘The Paralamas are the same gods Zagallo‘. They will have to put up with it for at least another 40 (years)”
Returning to talking about future work, the musicians explained what are the topics that inspire them in composing.
By pure chance, everyday events or emotional stumbles generate songs,” he said. Herbert.
The doors are also open for reflections on politics and society, especially in view of the election of donald trump in the United States and a possible anti-immigration policy. The musician explains:
The decrease in physical and cultural space and the accessibility of so much information and knowledge will surely impact a planet that cannot be moved by people like Donald Trump. It may be that these themes will appear in some new music, but that’s never expected. It’s not driven that way.”
