Steuard Smith, Eagles’ guitarist, announced on Wednesday (29/1) who will leave the band after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s, a condition that has symptoms similar to those of the Evil of Parkinson’s. The 72 -year -old musician stressed that the decision was made to preserve his artistic integrity and the legacy of the group.

Preserve elegance

In a press release, Smith explained that the disease influenced its ability to perform on stage. “It is with deep regret that, due to performance problems associated with my recently diagnosed parkinsonism, I discover that I should leave my role in the eagles while I can still do it elegantly,” he said.

The guitarist underlined his gratitude for the 25 years of career together with the band. “It was a great quarter of the century and I expected to be able to finish this year with the band, but now I need to do what is best for all the subjects involved,” he added.

The musician replaced Don Felder in the Eagles and has become a key piece in the arrangements and recordings of the group in the last two decades.

Don Henley complains of production

Don Henley, singer and founder of The Eagles, expressed sadness for Smith’s decision and highlighted the importance of his colleague for the group’s trajectory. “The Eagles will be eternally grateful for the extraordinary talents that led to our recordings and live shows. We will miss Steuart,” said Henley, 77.

Smith’s departure marks the end of an era for Eagles, who will continue their career without one of the most important members of their recent training.
