Good Burger icon Kel Mitchell reflects on the scene he shot with Kenan Thompson that still resonates with him today

In the 1990s, very few comedic duets could compete with formidable performers Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson. Nickelodeon fans first saw his talents in the comic sketch series. Everything before embarking on its spin-off series, Kenan and Kel. But obviously the two young stars will make the leap to the big screen in 1997 on good burger. The classic film contains a number of memorable moments with the shoulders and the actors, most of the film celebrates its 25th anniversary and launches a new limited edition Blu-ray book, Mitchell se abre sobre la escena que todavía resuena con él hasta el día of today.

Where to start when it comes to registration? good burgerThe best moments of. There’s the “strawberry hot tub” scene, the Demented Hills madhouse escape and, of course, Carmen Electra’s nighttime date sequence with Roxanne. However, the scene Kel Mitchell has in mind is a little more intimate. I had the pleasure of speaking with the comedy veteran at the anniversary celebration of Nickelodeon’s landmark film and the release of the Blu-ray Steelbook. And when I asked him about a favorite scene with him and Kenan Thompson’s characters, he called the rooftop hangout as something that stuck with him:

The rooftop scene was really cool, because it was dramatic. Love [that] the writers let us take him there in some scenes, so it was great. And then Ed has this amazing line at the end. “Well, at least I can see [my dad] daily.’ And it was a really deep and fun time.

The scene in question shows Ed by Kel Mitchell and Dexter Reed by Kenan Thompson staring at the night sky as they relax on the roof of the owner fast food restaurant. This is where teens really get to know each other, after having a rough start at the beginning of the film. Notably, Dexter even talks about his absent father, prompting the Mitchell brand response mentioned earlier.

It’s not just the sentimental aspect of the scene that stands out for the mysterious men alum, however. For him, it also represents the idea that the filmmakers and Nickelodeon as a whole wanted the project to appeal to audiences of all ages:

I think the great thing about Nickelodeon is that they also have jokes for adults and children. And I think that’s why it’s a great movie that you can watch with the whole family and everyone has a different perspective every time they see it. I think it’s great.

The film was only the second production to be released under Nick’s theatrical division (the first was in 1996). Harriet spies on her adaptation). With that, the company always seemed to experiment with tone, allowing for some creative flexibility for the comedy of friends. Dexter’s dad joke is definitely a great example, as is the aforementioned sequence with the character Carmen Electra.

The ’90s blockbuster remains a key part of Nickelodeon’s history and the careers of Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. Time many are still watching Kenan and Kel on netflix As we speak, many people are still excited about their friends sitcom on the big screen and the TV show it’s based on. His legacy is so strong that Thompson and Mitchell relaunched the good burger sketch for the show tonight in 2015, and still was performed by Mitchell in Everything Renaissance .

At this point, it is safe to assume that the film will continue to be advertised for years to come. It’s really cool to see the general public still love him, but what’s even sweeter is knowing that Kel Mitchell and Kenan Thompson (who has supported Nick before ) still appreciate it more than two decades later.
