Musk’s Starship faces new launch failure – Drift

Spacex, Elon Musk’s company, faced a significant setback in its eighth Starship test mission. During the operation, communication with the rocket was lost in space, resulting in the failure of the demonstration of satellites implantation. This is the company’s second consecutive failure in 2025, highlighting the technical challenges of its ambitious launch platform.

Images captured by observers and disclosed on social networks show wreckage cutting the sky at dusk, near the south of Florida and Bahamas, indicating a possible disintegration of the vehicle in orbit. The loss of control of the Starship was recorded live on the official transmission of the mission, revealing the ship in a disordered movement before signal loss.

The mission began at 20h (Brasília time), with the launch of the 123 meter rocket from the Chica Boca Complex, in Texas. The Super Heavy propeller, responsible for the first phase of the flight, performed its successful programmed return, but the top phase, crucial to the validation of Spacex’s interplanetary transport system, did not succeed.

This new setback reinforces the challenges faced by the company in the evolution of Starship, designed to revolutionize space travel and make missions to the moon and Mars viable. Spacex has not yet released a detailed analysis of the problem, but experts point out that flaws are part of the iterative process of space technology development.
