Bob Dylan sexual abuse lawsuit filed

Woman who claimed she was abused by Dylan at age 12 drops lawsuit after being accused of destroying evidence

Process against Bob Dylan (artistic name of Robert Allen Zimmerman) for sexual harassment against a minor in 1965 was filed. The action was removed by the victim herself, after being accused of destroying evidence, as determined by the billboard.

The woman, identified as JC, accused the singer of grooming and sexually abusing her in 1965, when she was 12 years old. The victim would not have delivered emails and text messages within the time frame set by the court.

At a hearing on July 28, a request was made to close the lawsuit with prejudice. The woman had also recently released her legal representatives. Bob Dylan have not yet commented on the result.

In a note, the main lawyer of Dylan, Orin Snyder, said he was satisfied with the legal result obtained by the team. “This case is closed. It is scandalous that it was brought in in the first place. We are pleased that the plaintiff has abandoned this lawyer-led farce and that the case has been closed at a loss.”

The case of sexual abuse and assault

The prosecution alleged that Bob Dylan would have taken place in the singer’s room at the Chelsea Hotel in New York between April and May 1965, when the musician would have been between 23 and 24 years old. The case was originally filed in the New York State Supreme Court on August 13, 2021.

The case alleged that Dylan “explored his status as a musician by preparing JC to gain her trust and gain control over her as part of her plan to molest and sexually abuse her. JC“.

He further claimed that Dylan intended to “lower his inhibitions for the purpose of sexually abusing her, which he did, along with supplying drugs, alcohol and threats of physical violence, leaving her emotionally scarred and psychologically damaged to this day.”

After the accusations, the legal team of Dylan confirmed the “chronological impossibility” of the facts, since the artist was not in New York during the alleged period. In response, the woman updated her file claiming that the alleged abuse took place over “several months in the spring of 1965.”

After the change in the process, the lawyers of Dylan called the action “blatant extortion…false, malicious, reckless and defamatory”. Bob Dylan has consistently denied the allegations in a statement shared by his spokesperson: “The 56-year-old claim is false and will be vigorously defended.”
