Heavy Metal English band comes to the country to perform at two festivals – one of them Monsters of Rock – and on a separate date
Nothing can stop the Judas Priest. The most legendary and celebrated heavy metal band still in activity exceeded 55 years of existence in a pace of surprising activities: about 90 performances were performed only last year. It is a show every four days-a scary average when considering not only the long travels, as they play around the world, but also the advanced age of some members, as there are two septuagenaries in formation.
Until the newest of them, Richie Faulknerhelps to exemplify the maxim that opens this text. The 45 -year -old guitarist suffered in 2021 a aorta aortic in the show, but did not stop playing the riffs and complex soils: he executed the set until the end and only then ended up to the hospital, where he faced open -chest surgery more than 10 hours long. He recently also revealed that he had suffered a series of strokes that left a permanent brain damage. But nothing is able to brake the Priest.
In an interview with Rolling Stone BrazilFaulkner declares excited to return to the country two and a half years after the last visit. At the end of 2022, the quintet today formed by him, Rob Halford (voice), Ian Hill (low), Andy Sneap (Live guitar, replacing GLENN TICTON) and Scott Travis (drums) came to play in the first Knotfest Brazil and perform solo show, all in São Paulo. This time, the itinerary is a little bigger. Play at the festival Arena of Rockin Brasiliaon April 16; in the 30th anniversary of the Monsters of Rockin São Pauloon April 19; and on a separate date, in Vibrationalso in capitalon April 20th. Tickets can be purchased in the Digital box office (BSB) and EVENTIM (SP).
In both festivals, in Brasilia and São Paulo, Priest shares spotlight with the Scorpionslegendary German band also notorious for longevity: 60 years of career. Europe It also plays in both cities. Savatage, Opeth, Stratovarius and Queensrÿche They are at the São Paulo event, with the last name also opening for the English group in Vibra.
About stage colleagues, Richie comments:
“As a fan, the Scorpions It’s at the top of my list. Great songs, musicians, vocals, history. I don’t think I knew any of the guys personally, but Rob and the guys have a long relationship. I love Europe And I look forward to seeing them; I remember when The Final Countdown (1986 album) came out, I should be about 10 years old or maybe even less. I love the way John Norum Plays, it’s one of my favorite guitarists. I know some guys from Savatage And I’m looking forward to seeing the Opeth. As a fan, I hope to have time to see these bands – and that’s the good thing about playing with these lineups, you can see bands you love and have never seen before. ”

Faulkner, by the way, is a veteran of Monsters of Rock. With Judas Priest, the guitarist performed twice in the 2015 edition of the event, which had Ozzy Osbourne, Kiss, Motörhead, Manowaramong many others. Asked about memories of this occasion, the guitarist gives a curious laugh before answering:
“I remember! We didn’t know it would be like that, but it was the last time we played with Lemmy [Kilmister, líder do Motörhead falecido em 2015]. We played a night with Kiss and one night with Ozzy. After each night, there was a party at the hotel bar. It was crazy. I have great memories. Glenn [Tipton, guitarrista afastado em 2018 devido ao avanço do Parkinson] It was with us at the time. We always have fun in Brazil. I think there was a party on Thursday, another on Friday, one more Saturday and then everyone recovered on Sunday. Four amazing days of music and chaos. I don’t know if I can still do this kind of party, but let’s see if this time it will be the same thing. ”

The possible Judas Priest setlist
Rock monster party apart, let’s get down to business. What can fans expect from the setlist? It is already imagined that the band will not execute the celebration at the 35 years of Paingiller (1990) promised in other places, but Faulkner went further: he said the repertoire should not be so altered compared to what the world rode in 2024, with the album tour Invincible Shield (2024).
“We always think about how we can improve the setlist. It’s hard, because fans see the setlist on the internet, so they expect certain things. But I think the set we have at the moment is very refined. It covers a lot of material different from Priest and the dynamics is very good. It’s a fast set, accelerated.
By way of curiosity, a setlist of the European stage of the 2024 tour:
- Panic Attack
- You’ve Got Another Thing Comin ‘
- Rapid Fire
- Breaking the Law
- Riding on the wind
- Love Bites
- Devil’s Child

GLENN TICTON HEALTH AND NEW ALBUS
Quoted earlier by Richie Faulkner, Glenn Tipton has read for years with a diagnosis of Parkinson. The 77 -year -old guitarist can no longer participate in the shows, but is still involved with studio work. Invited to share an update about the veteran colleague, Faulkner, a member since the end of 2010 after the departure of Kk Downing. he said:
“He’s fine. We went to Grammy in Los Angeles and Glenn was there. We know that Parkinson is a degenerative disease: you can keep it at a certain level, but it gets worse over time. Even so, he is in a good mood. Glenn is a fighter. He is a warrior and is doing what he can to continue. I respect him a lot.”

The work even seems to keep the mind of Tipton. Therefore, it will not be surprising if the Priest relatively quickly releases an album to succeed Invincible Shield. Richie Faulkner guarantees that the band talks about unpublished songs “All Time”. And reflects:
“It’s funny. I entered the farewell tour, it would be the last world tour. But you get so excited when you go to different countries, see different people and play these great songs… We ended up going to the studio to record Redeemer of Souls (2014), we were excited, we went out to touch it live. The same thing happened in the cycles of Firepower (2018) and Invincible Shield. We never say ‘never’ because the pattern seems to be: after a tour usually comes an album. We are still on the tour Invincible Shield And Brazil is one of the most exciting places to play, so this can cheer us up to another album. ”
There is even a numerical argument to favor the arrival of a new album. Faulkner explains:
“It would be the 20th album, right? If there was another, it would be number 20, which is a good number.”
Rolando or not an album with Judas Priest, Richie Faulkner states that at least his parallel project will provide unprecedented material soon. THE Elegant Weaponsyour band with the Chilean vocalist Ronnie Romero (Rainbow, Lords of Black, The ferrymen, Michael Schenker Group, Sunstorm), prepares a successor for HORNS FOR HALO (2023), debut disc.
“We are almost finishing to record. We were recording the vocal weeks ago. It’s almost done. We don’t know when it will be released because we have commitments to Priest and other bands, but it’s great. It’s like an evolution the second time because the band is solidified with Dave Rimmer (Uriah Heep) In the bass and Christopher Williams (ACCEPT). Keep an eye! ”
