New vocalist says he was already a big fan of the group in his teens and showed the album Hybrid Theory to all colleagues at school when he bought it

Emily Armstrong Don’t hide from anyone who was already a big fan of Linkin Park even before joining the band. The vocalist, currently 39, had only 13 when Hybrid Theory (2000) was released, but remembers having bought from the group’s debut album as soon as he left and shown to all colleagues at school.

In an interview with the radio Q101 Chicago (via Music), Emily recalled the impact the album had on her life and how Chester Benningtonoriginal vocalist of Linkin Park, opened doors for her to become a singer:

Hybrid Theory It was released and the nude metal was on the rise. I bought the album and showed everyone at school and thought, ‘Guys, this album is very good.’ I thought, ‘Dude, if he managed to do that, I can also,’ because I was learning to sing. I can scream and sing, for sure! “

Linkin Park

Today as a lead singer of Linkin Park, Emily Armstrong commented on this transition process, from fan to member of the band.

According to her, there was not exactly a friendship or proximity to the other members before joining the band. However, chemistry began to work from the moment they entered the studio.

“We didn’t go to the same circles. It was something sporadic. But when we started composing and we met for the second time in the studio, things really started to fit in a way that we found several similarities that may not fit before.
