Kel Mitchell certainly gave it his all while working good burger I’ve seen recently In the wake of the film’s limited edition Blu-ray Steelbook hitting the shelves. The Nickelodeon alum was as perfect as the thick but gentle Ed, and the performance still holds up today. While Mitchell’s screen work is commendable, he also deserves praise for giving teen comedy his signature song. “We’re All Dudes” is essentially the film’s anthem and is still fondly remembered by fans. According to Mitchell, the song was also assembled in an interesting way, and that process led to him presenting it in a somewhat awkward (but fun) way.
“We’re All Dudes” was played. by Kel Mitchell and Less Than Jake and was recorded as part of the film’s soundtrack in 1997. In the film, the song can be heard during a montage showing the owner restaurant thriving on Ed Sauce’s credits. As a fan of the song, I asked Kel Mitchell about his design as I spoke to him to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary and the release of The Steel Book. The beloved star explained it Everything (where is it good burger original) served as a solid starting point for the score. And from there, things seem to have moved pretty quickly:
The positive side of everything is that [it was] very music oriented, you know? We had fantastic musical guests, we had released a soundtrack for All That. So it made sense to have a great soundtrack for Good Burger, which we had. And then I was a rapper at the time, so I was like, ‘Yo, I have to make a record.’ And I’ve already raped Ed with Immature on the other album. And so when Good Burger came, I always did that little song at first, remember? Love you, [sings] “I am a boy, he is a boy”. Yes [director] brian [Robbins] He came up to me and said, ‘Hey, Kel, we have to do a whole song. And we will, and then we will have a meeting, but I need you to write the song today and come to this meeting. I’m like, ‘Today?’ [laughs]
The decision to create a prominent music list for the film makes perfect sense because the series that spawned it (which could be streamed with a netflix subscription ) offered the viewers incredible melodies. And creating a song around Ed’s “I’m a guy” jingle was also a good idea, although I’m not sure the actor could have imagined that he would have so little time to fix things. However, he immediately got to work, before releasing the song to the powers that be:
So I literally love it, I wrote a song. I remember I was in the hotel and I was writing and writing and writing. [I] I had a meeting at Paramount and I didn’t know they were going to ask me to sing it right away. They were like “Hey, sing to us while we eat.” I’m like, ‘Ok, great. So I take out my notes, sing to them and they say, ‘That’s great. Okay, you’ll fly to Florida and record this with Less Than, Jake. And I’m like, ‘Ok, great!’ Because you know, ska band, super cool. I flew, did the song and yelled the song ‘I’m A Dude’. Now it’s everywhere, man, everyone likes to play it. And people still play it today, it’s just a funny song, really funny, you know? And I love this song, I still get paid for this song right now.
I’m not sure I performed the whole song in front of a group of executives. On the other hand, I don’t have the fearless attitude of the actor and musician, and I thank God for this behavior. If you weren’t anxious, we might not have the fan favorite song.
Of course, the song “We’re All Dudes” is only part of the film’s legacy. There are memorable shows and many funny moments that can still make audiences laugh today. During our interview, Kel Mitchell talked about the scene. shot with Kenan Thompson who still resonates with him after two decades. Mitchell also talked about not being able to do a sequel. , which I wouldn’t mind seeing if there’s a good story in mind anyway. Despite this, the film remained in the public consciousness. The good burger the sketch has been resumed for the show tonight several years ago and while Mitchell attended the Everything Renaissance brought him back.
Kel Mitchell’s signature song may have come together in a way you weren’t expecting, but we’re all happier to have it. It’s wonderful to know that he’s still getting so much love today and that Mitchell is still legitimately getting rejections too.
