Long features unpublished images of the artist’s archives, with interviews by his mother and former partner, as well as testimonials from former colleagues
A new documentary, It’s Never Over: Jeff Buckleywho examines the life of the late singer and songwriter, debuts in theaters on August 8, with later release at HBO scheduled for next summer in the southern hemisphere.
Directed by Amy Berg (Phoenix Rising, West of Memphis), the movie brings unpublished images of Buckley’s files. Your mother, Mary Guibertand the former partner Rebecca Moore and JOAN WASSER They gave exclusive interviews for production. The documentary also has testimonials from former Buckley band member, Michael Tighe and Parker Kindredbesides the artists Ben Harper and Aimee Mann.

I am very excited about the partnership with Magnolia and HBO to share this movie with the world and give old and new fans the chance to meet Jeff from this unique point of view.”
The documentary explores how Jeff followed in his father’s footsteps, also singer and songwriter Tim Buckley – who died at age 28, when Jeff was only 8 – and launched his own musical career by signing with Columbia Records. The Live Registration Live at sin-is It was released in 1993, and its only studio album, Gracecame out in August 1994, three years before his early death at age 30. Since then, his legacy has only grown.
When the film premiered at the Sundance Festival in January, the Rolling Stone USA wrote that production “Do justice to the legacy of [Jeff] Buckley ”. The criticism says:
“Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibert, has always been extremely protective about her son and his songs, but opened the coffers for Amy Berg’s movie. There are pictures of Buckley as a plump baby smiling, and with a teens’s metal mullet; excerpts playing in high school bands, glimpsed notebooks that can only be described as it can be described as ‘Buckleyesca’. Songs of all phases of his career, both in the form of Gross and finished recordings, pack the soundtrack – along with voice messages, including the last one he left to his mother, and conversations captured during studio sessions.
