Event on July 7 has Ney Matogrosso, Tiago Pantaleão and immersive exhibition in honor of Cazuza’s life and work
On July 7, 2025, Brazil celebrates the 35th anniversary of the Cazuzaartist who redefined the boundaries of Brazilian music with his raw poetry, his challenging attitude and total delivery to art. To mark the date, the Shopping Leblonin Rio de Janeiro, performs the Cazuza Dayspecial programming within the exhibition “Exaggerated Cazuza”the largest ever made about the singer and songwriter.
Curated by Ramon Nunes Mello and idealization of CAZUZA LIVING SOCIETYpresided over by Lucinha Araújothe artist’s mother, the exhibition occupies 1,500 square meters and proposes an affective and sensory trip for nine environments that recreate striking moments of the trajectory of Cazuzafrom youth in Ipanema to his meteoric career with the Red baron and then in solo flight.
Stage clothes, letter manuscripts, letters, tickets, rare videos, unpublished photos and testimonials from friends like Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Fernanda Montenegro and Ney Matogrosso They help rebuild the creative multiplicity of one of the biggest names in Brazilian music. The show also celebrates the 40th anniversary of the album Exaggeratedinitial milestone of the artist’s solo career.
The schedule of the 7th starts at 1:30 pm with the sound opening conducted by Dodo Cunhafollowed, at 3:30 pm, for a musical performance of Cadu Caruzocover authorized by the family. At 19h, one of the most awaited moments: the meeting between Ney Matogrosso, Lucinha Araújo and Ramon Nunes Mello for a chat that recalls the personal and artistic relationship of Ney with Cazuzaculminating in the interpretation of the song “Poem”written by Cazuza and music Frejat. Soon after, at 8:20 pm, the young singer Tiago Pantaleão It takes the stage for a pocket show full of exciting rereading from the honoree classics. The celebration ends at 9 pm with a collective tribute to the legacy of Cazuza and the distribution of an exclusive gift to visitors of the day.
More than recalling Cazuza’s life, the event proposes to reflect on the lasting impact of his work, still so present in the rewrites of new artists, on the streets graffiti with his verses and the courage to be who is, without masks. The singer, who in 1989 made public his struggle against HIV in a Brazil still marked by prejudice, was also a symbol of resistance and freedom.
