Singer provided free and accessible psychological counseling for musicians and technicians in all 102 shows of Guts World Tour
Olivia Rodrigo It has been consolidated as one of the biggest pop stars of the new generation and apparently also one of the most careful with those who work by your side. In a recent interview, the guitarist Daisy Spencer revealed that the singer played therapy sessions for the entire technical team and band during the Guts world tourwhich traveled the world between February and July 2024.
“It was completely free and accessible to all of us, thanks to Olivia And to our Manager Tour, Marty Hom“, he said Spencer in the podcast The Stage Left.
I had never lived something like that. It was one of the coolest things that ever happened in a tour.
In all, there were 102 shows on several continents, with weekly or biweekly therapy sessions available even during time off. “I enjoyed it a lot. It rekindled the importance of therapy in me, because it had been a long time since I set aside,” he added.
Spencer described Rodrigo as “the most amazing boss of all.” She highlighted the emotional impact of having this type of support in an environment that is usually marked by stress, pressure and exhaustion. “It’s not common to see this in industry. It was really transformative.”
The initiative of Rodrigo gains even more relevance in the light of the British NGO data Mindwhich points out that music professionals are more likely to develop mental health problems than the general population, and musicians are up to three times more susceptible to depression. Factors such as isolation, financial instability, substance abuse, and exhaustive working hours are often cited as triggers.
In recent years, the sector has mobilized to offer more support. A recent example is the creation of Online Tour Health and Welfare Coaching24 -hour psychological support service for artists, production teams, promoters and tour agents, launched by Music Industry Therapy Collective.
