Movie rescues the Cult Group’s trajectory and will be accompanied by a series on YouTube with high definition restored clips until November

While preparing to say goodbye to the stage, the band members Owe will have their story told in a new documentary that debuts in Netflix on August 19th. Simply entitled Owethe film was directed by Chris Smith and had its premiere in Sundance Festival in January 2024.

The feature dives into the origins of the band formed by Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh, GERALD and Bob Casale and Alan Myerswho created the concept of “desire” after witnessing the massacre at the University of Kent State in 1970, when four students were killed by the National Guard during a protest against the Vietnam War.

Besides showing the rise of the group from success “Whip It”the documentary features rare file images and interviews with the important members and collaborators of the band’s trajectory.

As a heating for the launch, the Owe will also start the series DEVOLUTIONARY TIMESwith the high definition restoration of its most iconic music videos. The exhibition starts at Youtube This week with The Truth About De-Evolution10-minute short film directed by Chuck Statler with script Gerald Casale and MARK MOTORSBAUGH. The video brings a surrealist aesthetics packed by tracks like “Secret Agent Man” and “Jocko Homo”.

The releases will take place twice a week until November 10th. “The videos were restored with impeccable quality, ready to jump from your screen! Get ready for a banquet Owe! ”, Commented Gerald Casale in an official note.

Later this year, the group starts their farewell tour Cosmic De-Evolution Tournext to the B-52Swith dates marked in cities such as Toronto, Austin and Los Angeles. They also take the stage as the opening band of the My Chemical Romance in Chicago, in August.

Formed in 1973, the band released their debut album Q: Are we not men? A: We are I owe! in 1978. Despite several indications, the Owe has not yet been included in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
