Inspired by the fear of dancing in public, new album is an invitation to movement and freedom of expression without cameras or judgments
Tyler, The Creator surprised the fans this weekend with the release of their new album Don’t Tap The Glass. Announced on Friday night (18), during his show at Barclays Center in New York, the album arrives as his ninth studio work and carries a very clear proposal: stimulating the body to move without fear or shame.
With ten lanes and just under 30 minutes long, Don’t Tap The Glass It is a work designed for the track, or for any space where body expression can flow without filters. In a post on Instagram, Tyler He revealed that the idea came to realize that his friends failed to dance in public for fear of being filmed and exposed on social networks. “I thought, hell, a natural form of expression became ghost,” he wrote.

The launch was accompanied by a conceptual performance around the Brooklyn show: a figure inside a transparent glass box with the sentence “Don’t Tap The Glass” Printed outside, as well as an enigmatic website with commands like “moving the body. No stand still” and “Talk only glory. Leave your luggage at home.”
Second Tylerthe spirit of the album became even clearer in a 300 guest Listening Party, where the use of cell phones and cameras was prohibited. “Everyone was dancing, sweating, expressing itself. It was beautiful,” he said. “There was a freedom in the air.”
The artist recommends listening to the album in high volume, during activities involving movement: dance, run, drive, anything, less stand still.
