A HEAVY METAL FAN FAN filled the Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, England, to see Ozzy for the last time. According to the British newspaper The guardian40,000 people were present at the stadium – and another 5.8 million followed the show through online transmission.
“Force of nature”, wrote the English journalist Michael Hann in his criticism of Ozzy Osbourne’s performance in his latest show. The event lasted more than 10 hours and other Heavy Metal artists participated, in particular the singer Yungblud, one of the most relevant names of the new generation.
Ozzy’s farewell was so relevant for the city of Birmingham, that the tourism council said that this is the Sabbath Summer. The city, also, already defines itself as the “metal house” due to the Sabbath Blackwhose four members were born there.
Before the presentation, also the original members of the band, Terence “Geezer” Butler, Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne and Bill Ward, received the medal for the freedom of the city of Birmingham during a ceremony in the town hall.
