Musician and reference producer in progressive rock has worked on the remixing of six albums of this British group that considers underestimated

Steven Wilson attracted spotlight for the first time with the Porcupine Treein the 1990s. Then he built an excellent solo career and at the same time became one of the most requested producers of progressive rock. Especially when the job is to remix classic albums.

Among the bands he has worked with, one draws attention to the degree of devotion demonstrated by Steven. This is Gentle GiantBritish Prog Group that he is so fan that he simply considers inferior to the Beatles in the aspect of “innovation and genius”.

In an interview with Noise11, Steven said that one of the coolest things was being able to introduce Gentle Giant to new people from his remixes.

He stated (transcription via ultimate guitar):

“This, for me, is the biggest gift of all: being able to present songs that I find amazing to people who didn’t know them before. And that happened a lot with Gentle Giant. For me, he is just after the Beatles in terms of innovation and genius in composition. And being able to present it to my fans is an incredible feeling. So that’s why I also make the remixes of Gentle Giant.”

For already coordinating the remixing of classics Black Sabbath, Jethro Tull, Rush, King Crimson And others, Steven Wilson believes his “quality seal” makes fans of his work look for bands that didn’t know so far. This is the case of the “underestimated” Gentle Giant.

He explains:

“These bands are what you would call a little underestimated. And one of the beautiful things about gathering their work is that some people find the bands for the first time through the remixes. And it may be my fans and think, ‘Ah, Steven remixed a band called Gentle Giant.

In addition to the quality of the work itself, Steven also emphasizes the personality of the members of Gentle Giant, headed by the brothers Derek, Phil and Ray Shulmanthe latter already deceased.

“Gentle Giant’s guys are the most kind guys. I don’t know if you have already interviewed these guys, but they are very kind guys. The song is amazing and deserves to have this profile.”
