In an interview with Rolling Stone, vocalist makes a conjuncture analysis of the period when the style lived a boom in the country in the 2000s
About to perform this Saturday, 30, in São Paulo in I WANNA BE TOURfestival -shaped tour, the Fresno It has been reaping the fruits of being on the road for over 25 years. The band will play for an estimated audience between 40 and 50 thousand people in the Allianz Parquein a prominent position in the lineup of the event.
Before, however, the group gave an interview to Igor Mirandafor Rolling Stone Brazil. Among other subjects, the vocalist and guitarist Lucas Silveira It approached the Emo timeline, a style that the band has been on in 1999.
Asked how the subgenre was seen in the first decade of the 2000s – a period of greatest fame – Lucas admits that there was a certain “disbelief” and that the groups, as well as their own Fresnothey were not faced so seriously. Apparently an event like the I WANNA BE TOUR It would be unthinkable at that time, even with the popularity on the rise.
For him, this is explained by the number of bands that emerged in a very specific time interval. Many did not follow the artistic development of the movement, which began small and then spread, contrary to popular belief.

Lucas says:
“There was an avalanche of bands that came up with the default of great record labels. None of them were born in a great label: they had all burst in the underground and became very big by their own work. But at the time, because it was the first generation of bands that came to those who were not following, it was ‘out of nowhere’ – to the point that they did not have more than events when they were not even more than events. Favorable. With the dollar at $ 1.70 in 2011, we would have fifty international bands there and not ten.
Nostalgia? Not just that
The longevity of Fresno and other attractions of I WANNA BE TOURlike international fall out Boy and Good Charlottebesides the Brazilian Glory, Forfun and Dead Fishshow that demand for emo is not just a matter of “revival,” says Lucas.
According to the singer and guitarist, these bands were important for a specific audience, but that has been renewed and enabled an event of the size of I WANNA BE TOUR. He exalts the strength of style:
“It’s not something very successful in 2004 that will fill Allianz. There is something very strong there. We see this otherwise because we cross all the time when this revival was not happening. We crossed the entire phase of the ‘hangover’ of exposure and successes. It is even more valuable for us.”
