The filmed version of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical gains new strength on the big screen, delivering emotion and immersion that neither Disney+ has achieved

In 2015, LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA presented to the world Hamiltonshow that redefined the musicals of Broadway By mixing rap, hip hop and American history. The show is inspired by the biography Alexander Hamiltonwritten by Ron Chernow.

In addition to Miranda In the main role, the recorded version of Hamiltonstill has Leslie Odom Jr. (The Exorcist: The devotee), Renée Elise Goldsberry (GIRLS5EVA), JONATHAN GROFF (Look), Phillipa Soo (Doctor Odyssey), Daveed Diggs (Express of Tomorrow), Christopher Jackson (And just like that…), Anthony Ramos (Iron Heart) and Ariana Debosis (Love, sublime love).

Since then, the play has become a cultural phenomenon, but for a long time Brazilian fans have not had a chance to experience it on stage. The original assembly, with its own Miranda in the role of Alexander Hamiltonremained inaccessible to much of the public. In 2020 alone, with the launch in the Disney+it was possible to watch the filmed version straight from the sofa at home.

Now, with the musical back to theaters, a challenge arises: to convince the audience to leave home to watch something that is now available on streaming. I myself doubted that the experience would make a difference, but there were only three songs to realize that the ticket is totally worth it.

On the big screen, Hamilton Gains a unique immersion. Even if the narrative does not change or the performances, it is possible to notice more details than on television. The performance of Phillipafor example, is the one that wins the most with this relaunch. The actress grows in the voice and her interpretation of Hamilton’s wife, Elizabeth Schuyler.

The second act becomes more understandable and all “politics”, which was already well adapted by the Creator, becomes light to accompany and leaves the history of the United States until interesting.

On the technical environment, the impact of sound intensifies the applause at the end of each song and, contrary to popular belief, does not invite the audience to sing along. The grandeur is such that the viewer spends the impressed weather and feeling the heart filled with the way Miranda He chose to tell this story. Outside songs like “Helpless”, “Burn” and “It’s Quiet Uptown” that take tears and goose bumps.

Regarding projection, it creates something that is not the same as the theater (and should not be), but certainly comes closer to that sensation than any streaming. For the superfan, I would risk saying that it is almost mandatory to live this experience. And if possible, in the biggest room and the best cinema than fit in your pocket.
