The other three founding members of Kiss spoke out about the death of the original guitarist Ace Frehley. Gene Simmons (voice and bass), Paul Stanley (voice and guitar) and Peter Criss (drums) sent press releases, in addition to Simmons speaking on the networks.

In a joint statement, Simmons and Stanley, who maintained Kiss after the departures of Frehley and Criss, said:

“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley. He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be part of the Kiss legacy. Our thoughts are with Jeanette (ex-wife), Monique (daughter) and all those who loved him, including our fans around the world.”

In another statement, Criss stated:

“With a broken heart and deep sadness, my brother Ace Frehley passed away. He died peacefully with his family around him. My wife and I were also with him until the end. I love you, my brother. My sympathies and prayers go out to Jeanette, Monique, Charlie and Nancy and all of Ace’s extended family, bandmates, fans and friends. May the Lord comfort you in this difficult time.”

As a founding member of the rock group Kiss and in his solo career, Ace has influenced and touched the hearts of millions of people. His legacy will live on in the music industry and in the hearts of Kiss Army. At this time, I ask everyone to please be respectful of Ace’s family and allow them to grieve in private. To KISS Army and Ace’s Rock Soldiers, my broken heart goes out to you all… God bless you.”

In a statement released earlier, Ace’s family stated:

“We are completely devastated and heartbroken. In his final moments, we were fortunate to be able to surround him with loving, caring and peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this Earth. We cherish all of his fondest memories, his laughter and celebrate the strength and kindness he gave to others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions and incomprehensible. As we reflect on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will live on forever!”

Since the end of September, Frehley’s situation has inspired concern among fans. The artist suffered a fall at home and had to suspend a show. Days later, in October, it was confirmed that he would cancel his entire schedule for the year.

This Thursday, the 16th, the website TMZ revealed that the guitarist was kept alive with the help of equipment — which could be turned off, given the severity of the condition. The death was confirmed at night Brasília time.

Ace Frehley, the original guitarist for Kiss

Born April 27, 1951, Paul Daniel “Ace” Frehley He started playing guitar at age 13 and grew up in a musical family. In his youth, he was part of several local bands while juggling jobs as a postman, taxi driver and delivery boy.

In 1972, he responded to an advertisement for a guitarist in a new band. It was selected by Paul Stanley (voice and guitar), Gene Simmons (voice and bass) and Peter Criss (drums) after a curious audition in which he appeared “poorly dressed”, according to his colleagues, but surprised with his performance.

He joined the group that adopted the name Kiss in 1973. Frehley created the persona Spaceman (also Space Ace), painting silver stars on his eyes. The band’s double lightning bolt logo is also his.

Ace initially remained in the lineup until 1982, when, amid problems with drug addiction and conflicts with Stanley and Simmons, he left the group.

After leaving Kiss, he formed Frehley’s Cometwith which he released two albums, and began a solo career. In 1996 he returned to the masked band for a reunion tour, remaining until 2002.

Frehley was introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of Kiss. He was credited for 11 of the group’s studio albums, although he did not play on one (Creatures of the Night1982) and its presence in another (Psycho Circus1998) is limited to just a few tracks. He also released eight studio albums as a solo artist.
