The rock world is in deep mourning for the guitarist of Kiss, Ace Frehleywho died on October 16 after a fall at his home.

“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley”, they said Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley in a joint statement. “He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be part of the band’s legacy.” KISS.”

Frehley was part of Kiss from his first shows in 1973 until 1982, when he left due to substance abuse problems, musical differences and personality conflicts with Simmons and Stanley. He returned in 1996 for the group’s triumphant reunion, but left again in 2002 after the end of their first farewell tour.

The four original members took the stage together for the last time when they were introduced into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, but did not perform that night. In 2018, however, Frehley played four songs with the band’s new lineup in one Kiss Kruise on Halloween. It was the last performance of Frehley with the band. At the beginning of that year, Simmons and Frehley they had toured Australia together, and ended every night playing some songs from Kiss.

In the last two decades, Freely He traveled throughout the United States with his solo band, visiting theaters, casinos, nightclubs and fairs. His repertoire focused mainly on songs from the Kissbut he also released some solo songs like “Cherry Medicine“, “Rock Soldiers“, “Rip It Out” and his famous cover of “New York Groove“, from Russ Ballard.

His last show took place on September 5, 2025, at the Uptown Theater in Providence, Rhode Island. Check out the images recorded by fans of the show’s opening song, “Deuce“, with “New York Groove“. Like countless shows from Kiss before him, the night ended with “Rock and Roll All Night“. “If you haven’t heard this next song yet, it’s probably an alien,” he said. Freely to the audience, “because everyone has heard this song, even if they are not a fan of the Kiss or the Ace.” Check it out.

Later that month, Frehley canceled a show at the Antelope Valley Fair in Lancaster, California, after suffering a fall at home that required a trip to the hospital. About a month later, he canceled all of his remaining dates due to “ongoing medical issues.”

THE Kiss is scheduled to make his first live performance since the end of his farewell tour in 2023 at the Kiss Kruise: Landlocked in Vegas event the weekend of November 14th at the Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. The band did not reveal exactly what they will do at the show, but they will not wear makeup and promise acoustic and electric songs.

Fans were hopeful that Frehley and Peter Criss to attend the event and give the world the goodbye that was denied to them on their second farewell tour. Unfortunately, this is now impossible. But there’s a good chance they’ll at least pay special tribute to Frehley.
