Singer MC Koringa, stage name of Kauan Mariz de Oliveira, 31, was arrested on Tuesday (23) for drug trafficking in the city of São Vicente, on the coast of São Paulo. The information comes from TV Globo.
According to the report, the court sentenced the singer to serve the sentence of four years and two months for the crime, under closure.
Before becoming a funker, Kauan was focused on rock and went so far as to wear particular rocker clothes, as well as having long hair.
He began to enjoy funk when he was still a teenager and went dancing in the Baixada Santista, until he attended an event called Janela Quente – a June party that took place in Santos, where he decided to dive into funk and become an MC.
His career has gained notoriety since 2006, when he released the songs Toca Ninja, Casa do Koreano and Mestre das Fugas. Overall, Kauan has more than 4 million followers.
