Rapper Nicki Minaj released the video for “Super Freaky Girl”, in which actor Alexander Ludwig (Bjorn from “Vikings”) is her toy. The singer uses and mistreats the boy, even making him chew his panties.
Directed by Joseph Kahn (a Taylor Swift favorite), the video still shows Minaj driving the neighbors crazy, vividly describing their sexual encounters, as well as including references to hit and run video games and the universe of Barbie dolls. Ludwig would be her Ken.
“Super Freaky Girl” is based on a sample of “Super Freak”, a funk classic by Rick James, released in 1981, which was already recycled in 1990 into MC Hammer’s hit “U Can’t Touch This”.
The recording debuted at number 1 on the Billboard hit chart in the United States, becoming Minaj’s third number one, but her first mega hits without prowess. It also became the first solo song by a female rapper to debut at the top of the US charts in 22 years, since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998.
The song is Minaj’s fourth single this year, after “Do We Have a Problem?”, “Bussin” (both with Lil Baby) and “We Go Up” (with Fivio Foreign). Despite this, the rapper has yet to confirm the release of an album.
Minaj’s latest album was 2018’s “Queen”.
