Rock In Rio: Stage dedicated to electronic music is successful at the festival

The space is the only one that has uninterrupted programming and runs until 4 in the morning

The eyes, cameras and attention are usually focused on the Mundo and Sunset phases Rock in Rio, but it’s at the opposite end of the City of Rock that is the busiest space for festival music. The New Dance Order is open every day from 4:00 pm to 4:00 am, being the only one to have an uninterrupted program.

The program includes 60 electronic music concerts in the venue from the first to the last day. Those who go there are faced with genres such as house, techno, trance, bass, trap, EDM. The DJs are at the center of the stage and the structure itself is a show. Altogether they measure 65 meters long by 24 meters high and include 560 square meters of LED screen. In short, there is no shortage of light shows – and that’s all the time.

The stage is an option for those who want to enjoy Rock in Rio early in the morning, but it is also an attraction for the general public from the late afternoon onwards. Even those just passing by end up dancing or swinging their legs to the beat. This also applies to vendors walking by with their cold beer or energy drink on their back.

There are also those who prefer to spend most of the day right in front of the stage to enjoy the sound. “Sunday, the day of Justin’s show, we stayed here most of the day, until Justin started. We really like electronics,” said 22-year-old student Júlia Carvalho, who is studying production engineering. “The dance stage corresponds a lot to the event, because this is a festival, not just rock”.

Júlia was in the company of her boyfriend, the engineering student Thalison Barbosa, 31 years old. “I like Coldplay, but I also like them electronic music. There’s Cascade today too! “She recalled, referring to the show on Saturday.” I think it’s really cool to have this stage. And I’m not the only one, it’s always full here too “.

The DJs who perform come from different quarters. “They come from Egypt, Germany, the United States, but mainly from Brazil. We try to be different and make room for different musical and behavioral niches. This year’s line-up has been very rich in this respect,” he explained. Claudio Miranda, artistic director of the New Dance Order.

Miranda justified the existence of the stage, built for the second time at Rock in Rio and already guaranteed to The city, a festival that will have its first edition next year, in Sao Paulo. “Rock in Rio is a diverse and transgenerational festival, as is electronic music, which has been around for about 25 years,” she stressed. “There is no way to have a festival of this magnitude without a stage dedicated to electronic music.”
