It was to the sound of Long live lifeduring the show Coldplay at Rock In Riolast Saturday, 10, that São Paulo native Giovanna Tozadori kept the promise she made to her father last year, when he had little chance of to survive to a health condition aggravated by COVID-19.

“It’s the feeling of being alive,” shares the father, Giovando Gonçalves Oliveira, who was intubated for more than a week and in 2021 had about 90% of his lungs compromised. He, who considers himself a big Coldplay fan, tells who did not wait for his daughter’s promise and who, now, has fulfilled it to dream see the band you love so much.

The family lived with apprehension during the period in which Giovando was in the hospital. “Giovanna, I and my other two children received the medical report every day. The chances of them surviving were very low”, says Rosemere Sigolo Tozadori, Giovando’s wife. Even with doctors saying he would only survive “a miracle from God,” the hope persisted.

Giovanna, who knew her father’s wish, promised him in the middle of a day of prayer with her mother that if he got out of this situation alive, she would take him to a Coldplay concert. So when the family learned that the group was coming to Rock In Rio, the anxiety was tremendous.

After the fright, with Giovando already out of the danger zone, Giovanna says she couldn’t buy the tickets when they were made available, as they sold out in a few minutes. Shows in Sao Paulo were also an option, but the values were “absurd,” she says.

Persevering in her promise, the young lady also took a R $ 600 shot when she tried to purchase tickets on social media. “But we didn’t give up and luckily we found three people selling their tickets two weeks before Rock In Rio.”

With everything in place, the family traveled by car from São Paulo, the capital, to Rio de Janeiro. In search of the dream, they braved the festival in the rain and stood for around 13 hours – which was a challenge for Genivaldo, who developed thrombosis in his lower limbs after Covid-19.

The mother, Rosemere, left early, tired. Even her father, Giovando, almost couldn’t make it, but he found strength in her daughter. Either way, it was worth it when Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, took the stage. “I have goosebumps from head to toe. It was supernatural, ”says Giovando.

The most anticipated song from the family was Long live life, which was played twice during the show. “If I had the opportunity, I’d take mine great dad in another show to listen to for the third time ”, jokes his daughter Giovanna, who recognizes how much music has learned to mean to her father after all she has been through.

repercussion

Giovanna shared her family’s story on social media and, in less than 24 hours, received more than 60,000 likes and hundreds of comments from people enthusiastic about her father’s overcoming. “I have received so many special reports that leave me with a smile just reading them”, says the young woman, who did not expect all this backlash.
