The image music of the Clube da Esquina is analyzed at the Musimagem Festival

The debate with Túlio Mourão and Nivaldo Ornelas addresses the essence of the “path” in Milton Nascimento’s class

Music made by Clube da Esquina it is powerful beyond poetry. And perhaps it is with her that the liberation of singing was born, in the national territory. For the first time something sung in Portuguese was heard that was not related to poetics. It was possible to hear what Milton and Lo they said inside everything you could be🇧🇷 wharf🇧🇷 A sunflower the color of your hair🇧🇷 San Vicente🇧🇷 Window landscape And nothing will ever be the same againbut his “lysergic constructions”, far from the didactic ways of the Brazilian song, have made these works portal that have led the mind to infinity.

“It’s very imaginative music,” says pianist and soundtrack producer Marcos Souza, president of the Musimagem Festival, the only one in the Americas performed only by composers. At 5 pm on the 11th, at the Faculdade Santa Marcelina, the debate Clube da Esquina soundtracks will have two specialists in the language of the Club and the songs (although they are not present in the album), the saxophonist Nivaldo Ornelas and the pianist Túlio Mourão🇧🇷 The event, now in its 8th edition, will be held until November 13, from 10:00 to 22:00. Santa Marcelina is located on Rua Dr. Emílio Ribas, 89, in Perdizes (festival.musimagembrasil.com).

In addition to their work as composers and instrumentalists, Nivaldo Ornelas and Túlio Mourão have worked on the creation of several soundtracks. Among Túlio’s films are Jorge, um Brasileiro, O Vestido, Vagas para Moça de Fino Trato and O Viajante. Nivaldo signs the sounds of A Dança dos Bonecos, In the name of reason and Tampinha. They will address issues such as the relationship between cinema and Clube da Esquina’s creative process and how the two began composing audiovisual soundtracks.
