The song ‘Para Lennon and McCartney’ was recorded for a collective project by the Biscoito Fino label
Special Estadao – Gal Costa, who died on November 9 in São Paulo, will be heard in an unedited recording from Friday December 9. This is a remake of the song For Lennon and McCartney (Lô Borges/Fernando Brant/Márcio Borges). The song became known in the voice of Milton Nascimento🇧🇷
The single, in duet with the singer Marina Senawill be released in collaboration with Music unites – conceived by Alice Caymmi, Adriana Vieira and Talita Morais, with direction and screenplay by Safira Moreira – who recorded the meeting of Gal and Marina Sena in a studio in the city of São Paulo to change the tone of the song. Afterwards, the singers recorded the vocals separately.
The musical direction was entrusted to the musician Guilherme Kastrup, who also played percussion and MPC. Also participating in the recording were Fábio Sá (bass and synth bass), Gui Held (guitars), Brisa Flow (samples). The track has a quote from the song The wind, in Dorival Caymmiwhich Gal recorded in 1976. Brisa Flow samples carry indigenous elements.
The recording is part of a label project Thin biscuit, through which Gal has released his latest works, which will be released in 2023, with the participation of several artists and several duets between artists of the “old” and new generation of Brazilian music. The artistic direction of the album is by Ana Basbaum, producer of Mary Bethany🇧🇷 Ana is also responsible for curating the project and repertoire together with journalist Renato Vieira.
Biscoito Fino did not reveal the exact date Gal made the recording, but it happened weeks before the singer left the stage in September of this year to undergo surgery to remove a lump from his nasal passages. Gal’s last performance was on 17 September, on stage at the Coala Festival, in São Paulo.
Marina has recently revisited Gal’s repertoire. In October you participated in the Spotify Singles project with a single by Greater importancemusic that Caetano Veloso made for the singer from Bahia in 1973. She recently sang Nothing more (lately) at a concert. The song was released by Gal on the record profanefrom 1984, and was part of the repertoire of his last tour, Many points of a star🇧🇷
