‘Los buenos modales’, by Marta Díaz, has a splendid quartet of protagonists. Be careful with the prodigious, magnetic, miraculous Carmen Flores Sandoval.
Jean Renoir was (and is) right: waitresses always know more and better the rules of the game than those upper classes for which they work, clean and whatever it takes. Here, the two waitresses are clear that, if things in their respective palaces go slowly, it will be faster and more effective for them to solve them, in bingo, in the park or in the hospital, at the stroke of gags, small conspiracies and a lot of sorority. And, above all, may we all never forget the advice of that neighbor across the street: turning your panties inside out is lucky! In any situation.
Chronicle of a prolonged and entrenched heartbreak, ‘Good Manners’ has a splendid quartet of protagonists (watch out for the prodigious, magnetic, miraculous Carmen Flores Sandoval), and combines sharp social analysis with Pocoyo’s antics, matrioskas, family secrets, tupperwarea few tears and glazed eyes, in a story that begins and ends in a cemetery: what better place to bury the hatchet and resurrect the affection of yesteryear?
For lovers of comedies of manners and morals
The best: the conversations between Trini and Milagros.
The worst: the character of the wonderful Barbara Santa-Cruz, perhaps too…unfriendly?
