The Norwegian film triumphed in the last edition of the European Film Awards.
Rakel (Kristine Kujath Thorp), in her early twenties, walks lightly and oblivious to all commitment. She clueless and so happy, she doesn’t even notice the fetus that she has been gestating inside her for almost seven months, the result of a sporadic fuck with a real cretin. When abortion is no longer an option, comedy comes in as a palliative: Yngvild Sve Flikke (‘Women in Oversized Men’s Shirts’) draws Rakel’s stumbles and scratches from sympathy, in line with the bittersweet existentialism of her compatriot Joachim Trier (‘The worst person in the world’). It will only be necessary to add a kinetic spark coming from the language of European comics – not for nothing, Falteknikk, the comic that adapts, veers between the gloom of Manu Larcenet and the bad drool of Rocío Quillahuaman – and we would have it.
With a good nose and no qualms, ‘Ninjababy’ talks about anguish and fear, and the many shits that await us after every important decision. For this reason, it stands as one of the stories zillennial most honest of the season, a film that reminds us that everyone is a bit of a mess and nothing happens.

Synopsis: At the age of 23, Rakel’s life changes when she finds out, perhaps too late, that she is pregnant. Rakel is an illustrator and loves being involved in different projects, but raising a baby? Rakel must face that question sooner than expected, and her surprise is double: she is six months pregnant, so there is no option to abort. She loves beer, drugs and sex without attachments, she has no interest in being a mother. Before making any decision, she begins to draw her “ninjababy” who will not make things easy for her.
