Protagonist of the HBO success, Ellie was not contaminated by the fungus, despite having been bitten by one of the infected; understand
Since debuting in HBO, The Last of Us has been a fan favorite, mostly for the plot mysteries. One of them concerns the immunity of Elliehas been the target of several theories from spectators who try to understand the story of the young woman.
Interpreted by Bella Ramsey, Ellie reveals, at the end of the first episode of The Last of Us, who was once bitten by one of the infected, but did not become one of them. Thus, it was discovered that the young woman is probably immune to the fungus. Cordyceps.
Faced with the revelation, fans of the series and the game began to theorize about the past of Ellie, in order to understand how and why she would be immune to the fungus that decimated the planet. One of the most accepted theories, in this sense, concerns the Annathe girl’s mother.
It turns out that, for some theorists, Anna (Ashley Johnsonsame actress who played Ellie in the video game of the saga) ended up being infected during pregnancy. Thus, the woman would have transmitted the disease to her daughter, who was already born immune.
The theory, however, was contested by one of the trailers for the series, which shows Anna shortly after the birth of Ellie. Apparently healthy, the woman was probably not the cause of her daughter’s immunity, at least not in her version. HBO.
With that in mind, some fans have created a second theory, which points to a house that is much easier to explain, even biologically. In that case, Ellie would be the victim of a simple mutation of the fungus Cordycepswhich evolved naturally, making the young — and even other likely hosts — immune.
Now, with each chapter of the plot being released weekly, it remains to be seen how the series will explain the immunity of Ellie. It is known, however, that this is precisely why the Fireflies want to send the protagonist to a laboratory in the West – in order to study her case and find a cure for the infection.
