A spoon is a lot! The real story of how to lose 90 kg in 20 months

It happens that there are a lot of extra pounds and getting rid of them seems incredible. But everything is possible, our heroine believes, if you go for it and, if possible, do not get lost.

“I am 30 years old, I work as a manager in a restaurant. Once, on New Year’s Eve, I made a wish – to lose weight – and lost 90 kilograms.

Don’t take care! In our articles, we collect the latest scientific data and the opinions of authoritative health experts. But remember: only a doctor can diagnose and prescribe treatment.

My story

In childhood and adolescence, I already had problems with excess weight, I tried again and again to get rid of it, but in vain. My maximum weight is 165 kilograms. Over the years, this began to affect my health: I developed hypertension and several other weight-related illnesses.

Two and a half years ago, I decided to lose weight. I really wanted to change everything and not give up at the beginning of the journey.

I started with calorie counting, then added a strict interval to that: one big meal a day. Everything was under the supervision of a doctor, and this method is not suitable for everyone! Intermittent fasting has many different options, and not all of them are so strict.

I love controlled fasting and how it feels, but everyone has their own preferences. The keto diet didn’t work for me.

What am I eating now

Considering one meal a day, my typical meal looks like this:

chicken with lots of vegetables (I like zucchini and potatoes the most),

roll (something like shawarma) with turkey or beef, vegetables and gravy,

fruit, something sweet: a protein bar or fruit juice ice cream.

At first it was not easy to fit all the food in one meal, but now I got used to it, it’s so convenient for me.

My workouts

I started doing sports after a few months: it was impossible for me to make several changes in my lifestyle at the same time. At first it was walking and cardio, now I love weight training. I do 5-6 days a week, but not very long.

What helped me

I first learned to forgive myself for my failures. If you can’t do it for a day or two, there’s no need to scold yourself: you have to get back to a normal rhythm and continue. After all, life isn’t just about blindly following the rules.

Second, I was doing sports, even though I wasn’t in the mood. I know that training brings me closer to the goal, that my friends encourage me. If I didn’t do anything I don’t like, I wouldn’t lose weight.

Third, I spent a lot of time studying the properties of different products and I’m happy with my choice. Now it is no longer necessary to write anything. I remember being very surprised that a tablespoon of certain products is a lot!

I lost weight in 20 months and kept it off for almost a year. It’s not easy, but it’s definitely worth it. I feel more energetic and, of course, much happier than before.
