The Cannes Film Festival receives a special gift from Chopard to celebrate its 75th edition: the redesigned Golden Palm Branch.
The dear Swiss jeweler, a longtime supporter of the festival’s 25th anniversary toast to the association, has invented an ethically made common gold palm tree represented with double diamond leaves on a rose quartz base. The prize awarded at the closing ceremony is the highest award given to the skin, as it rewards the best image selected by the jury.
Chopard Artistic Director and Co-President Caroline Scheufele chose to re-examine the Golden Palm branch’s design to commemorate the occasion and therefore set two diamond-set leaves from Jewelry Board-certified suppliers. One leaf is decorated with 75 diamonds and the other with 25, on the occasion of the festival’s anniversary dates and, consequently, of Chopard’s participation in the film festival.
Replacing the traditional rock crystal pillow, the rose quartz base is important because, according to Greek mythology, the powdery pink gem with delicate veins was created by Aphrodite, the goddess of beauty and love. According to Chopard, rose quartz was chosen because it serves as a symbol of the “unconditional love that links the festival to the cinema.” As such, this year’s theme for the house skin is “Chopper Loves Movies”.
In announcing the recently developed palm dorada branch, Chopard published several quick data on the process, including the number of small children in the golden palm branch (19) and the number of artisans in the Chopard High School workshop dedicated to making the work. (6), the watches they wear (70) and the ethical weight of the Fairmined certified 18 karat gold (118 grams) they are made from.
The news comes after the landmark year 2021, when French film director Julia Ducurnau received the top prize. TitaniumThis is the first time the award has been given to a female director since Chopard created the award as part of a 25-year partnership. Other trophies presented on the closing night include Best Actress, Best Actor, Grand Prix, Best Director, Screenplay Award, Jury Award, Short Film “Rama de Palma de Oro” and “Cámara de Oro”. Geneva.
