Mindhunter: Two short seasons and then he’s gone
In October 2017, Netflix released the first season of mindhunter, produced by David Fincher, who directs several episodes. Which takes place at the late 70swas interested in the beginnings of the profession of profile.
Based on the John Douglas novel of the same name, it notably followed the characters of Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), two FBI agents, as they go head-to-head with the serial killers the most famous in the United States. In two seasons we could meet the terrible eyes of Ed Kemper, Charles Manson or David Berkowitz.
In 2019, season 2 of the series is released on Netflix. And despite of excellent response from the public, the third season has never seen the light of day. After rumors of possible discussions between Netflix and David Fincher in 2021, the hope of a season 3 is no longer allowed.
David Fincher sets the record straight
Currently visiting France on the occasion of his honorary Cesar to be awarded to him this Friday, the director of fight club gave an interview to Sunday newspaper. And he made it a point mindhunter season 3. Explain why it won’t see the light of day:
It’s a particularly expensive show, and in Netflix’s eyes, we haven’t attracted a large enough audience to warrant such an investment.
Once again the harsh law of the Netflix algorithm has therefore deprived us of another season of a quality series. However, the director’s relationship with the platform is in good shape as he recently made a new original film: The killer, scheduled for the end of the year. We will discover Michael Fassbender in the role of a relentless killer who begins to develop an awareness of good and evil. Before that, he had staged miss, another Netflix Original movie. It also produces the animated show Love, death and robots.
