U2 frontman Bono showed his support for Ukrainians trying to stop a Russian invasion on Sunday at Kiev’s metro station, which serves as an air raid shelter.
The Irish singer wrote on Twitter that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “invited us to Kiev to show solidarity with the Ukrainian people and that’s why we came.”
Bono, along with guitarist Edge, performed the Ben E. King song “Stand by Me” at Khreschatik subway station. He was joined by another singer in the Ukrainian military fatigue.
He also visited Bucha, a town near Kiev where hundreds of bodies were found after the withdrawal of Russian troops last month. The city is considered a possible location for war crimes.
