Sex/Life canceled: there will be no third season. Because of Sarah Shahi?

Sex/Life: two short turns and then it’s gone

Sex/Life is a Netflix series broadcast by June 2021. Season 1 was a roaring success and remained at the top of the platform’s most watched series for several weeks.

The show based on the novel 44 chapters on 4 men by BB Easton follows Billie, a young married woman, mother of two, who begins to find her intimate life with husband Cooper a bit monotonous. She then begins to delve into her past adventures with her former lover Brad, and memories of her come to disturb her daily life. The day she falls in love with him, her whole marriage is called into question and she Billie becomes involved in a love triangle. Season 2 picks up right after the events of season 1, Billie hasn’t left her husband, but she also has no intention of ending her relationship with Brad.

If season 2 of Sex/Life was highly anticipated by viewers who had followed the first season of the show in 2021, many were disappointed with these new episodes, judged far below the first. Viewing numbers weren’t as good as when Season 1 aired, and Netflix announced there would be no Season 3.

Sarah Shahi faces series

This announcement (via TV line) comes just days after series star Sarah Shahi lambasted the writing of season two. Indeed, on Amanda Hirsch’s podcast Not skinny but not fatthe actress said she did not feel sufficiently supported during this season. Furthermore, she had not appreciated the fact of sharing very little screen time with Adam Demos, interpreter of Brad and his partner in his life:

I really enjoyed our stories and enjoyed working with him. He is a brilliant playmate. , I worked a lot and he didn’t. It feels like 60 seconds. I have never seen him.

Also, Sarah Shahi decried the superficial look of season 2 of Sex/Lifewhile declaring that he knows very well that he will not be able to collaborate again with the platform after:

I will never work for Netflix again after saying all of this. But I can’t pretend.
