Cannes Film Festival 2023 – Here are all the films from the official selection

In the past few hours, the official selection of films for the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festivalwhich will be held in the French city on the French Riviera from May 16 to 27. The Swedish director will head the jury this year Ruben Ostlundwinner of two Palme d’Or and nominated for an Oscar for Triangle of Sorrow.

In this morning’s conference, which you will find at the end of this article, the general delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, Thierry Fremaux lists all films to be shown in Competition, Out of Competition, Midnight Screenings, Cannes Premieres and Un Certain Regard films. The opening film, as it is known, will be Jeanne du Barry by French director Maïwenn, a film that marks the return of Johnny Depp on the big screen after the Depp/Heard trial. Among the films in the competition stand out the presence of Asteroid City by Wes Anderson, Monsters by Hirokazu Kore-eda (2018 Palme d’Or winner for A Family Affair), May December by Todd Haynes and three Italian films, viz The day of the future by Nanni Moretti The chimera by Alice Rohrwacher e Kidnapped by Marco Bellocchio.

Sam Levinson’s new HBO series (Euphoria) will be shown out of competition The Idoland anticipated movies like Indiana Jones and the Quadrant of Destiny by James Mangold e Killers Of The Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese’s new film with Leonardo DiCaprio. In this edition of the Cannes Film Festival there will also be room for Occupied Citynew documentary film by Steve McQueen, Kubithe latest film by Takeshi Kitano and Strange Way of LifePedro Almodóvar’s short western with Ethan Hawke.
